Overview of the Questionnaire
Hiring in IT can feel like navigating a maze. You need the right people with real talent, not just on paper. But how do you uncover them? Standard questions lead to standard answers. Besides, generic questions fail to expose how candidates think, solve problems, and communicate. And in a fast-paced, tech-driven world, that’s not enough.
Your team needs strategic, role-specific questions that dig deeper. You want to know how candidates think, solve, and innovate. But defining those questions takes time, time you don’t have. That’s where our IT Interview Questions Bank comes in.
What’s Inside
- Technical Problem Solving: From basic to advanced level questions.
- Scenario-Based Questions: Judge how candidates apply knowledge and thinking.
- Communication Fluency: Test clarity and technical explanation.
- Leadership Readiness: Spot potential mentors and team leads.

Here are four questions each for eight of the 15 roles in the bank, with a note on what a strong answer shows. They work for an engineering manager running a deep round and for a recruiter running the first screen.
Full stack software engineer interview questions
- Walk me through what happens from the moment a user clicks a button to the data coming back from the server.
- How would you design the database tables for a simple job board, and which indexes would you add?
- Tell me about a bug that took you more than a day to find. How did you narrow it down?
- How do you decide what needs a unit test and what needs an end to end test?
A strong answer shows: Clear reasoning across the front end, the API and the database, and honest trade offs rather than buzzwords.
DevOps engineer interview questions

- When would you pick batch processing and when streaming?
- How do you handle late arriving or duplicate records?

Questions about technical interviews
What are technical interview questions?
Technical interview questions test whether a candidate can do the technical work of a role: writing code, designing systems, querying data or testing software. Good ones ask candidates to explain their reasoning on a real problem, not to recite definitions.
How many technical questions should you ask in one interview?
Four to six well chosen questions are usually enough for a 45 to 60 minute round. Leave time for follow up questions, because how a candidate reasons through a follow up tells you more than the first answer.
How can a recruiter screen technical candidates without a technical background?
Use role specific questions with a note on what a strong answer shows, listen for specific examples and clear reasoning, and leave deep technical judgement to the hiring manager. A short skills test before the interview takes care of the basics.
